Norfolk Constabulary has provided the following statement:

"We attended an unauthorised encampment at the Costessey park and ride yesterday, the main reason for our attendance is because this is used as an overflow car park for the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.

"As landowners, the county council were leading on matters. However, officers did engage with group who left the site if their own free will, with the intention of travelling to Essex.

"The convoy, made of up 22 caravans as well as other cars, was supported by officers as it travelled through the county."
