West Suffolk Council planners to consider environmental impacts of proposed 160-home estate in Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds

Developers have asked planners if an environmental statement is needed for a proposed 160-home estate in a village near Bury St Edmunds.

West Suffolk Council planners is considering an environmental impact assessment (EIS) screening opinion application by developer Pigeon on whether its proposed 160-home Ixworth estate, on land west of Bardwell Road, would cause significant environmental impacts requiring an environmental statement.

Outline plans for the homes were submitted to the council under a separate application last week.

Some planning applications require an environmental statement – a report summarising the findings of an EIA and assessing the likely environmental effects of a proposed development.
