Station Hill in Bury St Edmunds set to shut for five nights for resurfacing
A pothole-riddled town road will be closed for five nights for resurfacing works.
Station Hill, in Bury St Edmunds, will be shut overnight from March 17 to 21, between 7pm and 5am.
The road has previously been described as a ‘patchwork quilt’ of defects and repairs, with numerous calls for the entire stretch to be resurfaced.
Last year, SuffolkNews revealed the road was being considered for inclusion in a future resurfacing programme, but it was unclear when the work would take place.
The route has previously been closed for pothole repairs.
However, residents have continued to express frustration over the state of the road via the Suffolk Highways online reporting tool.
On Monday, a pothole was reported just before the entrance to the train station and was described as ‘very dangerous’.
“Got a puncture last week from this,” it said.
Suffolk Highways confirmed the road will be closed from the junction with Out Northgate to the roundabout on Tayfen Road.
Traffic will be diverted via the A1101 and A143.
