Great Whelnetham pupils take hover board into space

A village primary school tasted what life as an astronaut would be like after a space company paid the children a visit.

Destination Space based in Cambridge carried out two workshops for Key Stage 2 pupils at Great Whelnetham Primary School.

Melanie Barrow, executive headteacher, said: “The children were really excited. At one point they got to use robots as if they worked at NASA.”

The morning workshops also included learning about Isaac Newton’s physics laws and how they got us into space.

The children also took a ride on a hover board.

Mrs Barrow added: “We always try and link educational visits and space is quite a hard one. It was so lovely for the children to work in small groups.”
