Facebook talks planned for St Edmudsbury Cathedral's Lent series




St Edmundsbury Cathedral in Bury St Edmunds is holding a programme of online talks, services, reflections and discussion groups throughout Lent - which begins next week with Ash Wednesday.

Lent is a 40 day period leading up to Holy Week and Easter which offers a special time of remembrance and reflection in the church calendar.

The tradition of marking crosses on foreheads will be continued on Ash Wednesday with a livestream service on Facebook.

And in subsequent Wednesdays, speakers will give talks on the heading of 'radical faith'. These will address themes such as isolation, politics, power, and martyrdom.

Canon Matthew Vernon of the cathedral said: "As we do Lent from our homes, we may gain fresh insights.”
