Bury St Edmunds mayor Diane Hind is ‘delighted’ with her official Christmas card designed by Westgate Primary pupil
The winning design has been chosen for a mayor’s official Christmas card.
The mayor of Bury St Edmunds, Diane Hind, invited Year 6 pupils from all the schools in Bury to come up with a design.
Those to take part were Westgate Community Primary School, Guildhall Feoffment Community Primary School and Sebert Wood Community Primary School.
The winning design is by Ayla Shehu from Westgate CP School who, along with Cllr Hind and town clerk Jodie Budd, was at Kingfisher Press, in Olding Road, last Thursday to see the card go to print.
Cllr Hind said it was quite hard to pick a winner, but Ayla’s design stood out from the many entries.
“I’m really delighted with it,” said Cllr Hind. “I’m hoping the people who receive it will be as delighted.”
Mrs Budd explained that they start with 100 cards and these will be sent to other mayors/chairmen across Suffolk, local MPs, councillors, charities and organisations etc.
The Christmas card competition runner up was Poppy Johnson, from Guildhall Feoffment, and Aisha Galali from Westgate CP School came third.
All the pupils at Sebert Community Primary School, on Moreton Hall, were highly commended.
The town council, which ran the competition, wanted to give a big thank you to Kingfisher Press for sponsoring it.
