Bury St Edmunds nostalgia - mum-to-be takes part in sponsored walk for West Suffolk Hospital

In today's nostalgia we go back to 1971 when mother-to-be, Mrs Gill Last, walked 16 miles to help a charity.

Mrs Last of Thomas' Newsagents, Northgate Street, Bury St Edmunds, took part in a Brandon to Bury sponsored walk to raise money for special beds at West Suffolk Hospital.

She was expecting her fourth child in two months' time.

With her were Mrs Pat Fuller, of Northgate Street, and Mrs Madeleine Jaggard, of Winthrop Road. All three took it in turns to wheel the push-chair loaded with coats, drinks and spare shoes for the other walkers.

Mrs Last said: "I don't think it makes any difference if you are pregnant as long as you feel well."
