Bury St Edmunds Nostalgia - Brandon pensioner surprised with VIP trip to Theatre Royal

In today's nostalgia we transport back to 1997 when a pensioner found out that dreams really do come true.

Harold Whitely and his wife Pamela, of Brandon, were treated to a surprise VIP trip to Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream ballet.

Harold, 83 at the time, was first bitten by the ballet bug 60 years ago when he saw a performance at Manchester Hippodrome.

The special trip was arranged by staff at Brandon Park Nursing Home, where Harold was living, as part of the 'dreams come true' scheme.

He said: "I think I now have an idea of what it must be like to be royalty. It was wonderful - a beautifully organised surprise."
