In today's nostalgia we transport back to 1962 when a teenager was chosen as Miss Hardwick for that year at the Bury St Edmunds Round Table Fete at Hardwick Manor.

A packed marquee in the gardens of the manor was the scene at the time.

Anglia Television personality Dick Graham put the 'Miss Hardwick' sash around 18-year-old Pat Allen, of Bury St Edmunds, who worked as a receptionist. She also received a cheque for £25.

In second place was Miss Cheryl Bird, also 18, who was an art student of Ickworth Park. She reached the final of the competition the year before.

Miss Jennifer Eaton, 16, a commercial student of Nowton Road, was third.

The three were chosen from 10 who competed in the final.
