Repairs to School Road, Elmswell, near Bury St Edmunds, potholes pushed back
Repairs to a series of ‘dangerous’ potholes in a busy village road have ben pushed back.
Works were due to start on the craters at the entrance of School Road, in Elmswell, near Bury St Edmunds, on Friday, with further works then due to take place this Wednesday.
However, the works were ‘unable to proceed as planned’ last week and thus all the repairs will be completed on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Suffolk Highways said.
The defects currently have cones in them due to the risk of heavy rain obscuring them from drivers’ vision.
They are opposite the village’s Co-op and near a bus stop.
There have been 10 complaints about the potholes on the Suffolk Highways pothole reporting tool.
One report said it ‘looks like a part of a failed trench’ and another said ‘this is a danger to cars and people, especially outside a bus stop’.
A separate report remarket ‘this is getting dangerous now’.
Other submissions described the potholes as being seven inches deep and two feet wide, with the damage extending over 10 feet.
There will be minor traffic disruption while the works take place.
