1921 Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds to serve customers outside after pavement licence approved
A town’s fine dining spot is set to serve customers outside after securing a licence for outdoor seating.
1921 Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds is heading outdoors for the first time in its 11-year history after its application to West Suffolk Council for a pavement licence was approved.
The fine dining restaurant has added four tables and 14 chairs outside the front of the building to give diners the chance to enjoy their meals al fresco.
Chef patron Zack Deakins said: “We’re really excited to have this in place.
“To be honest, I’d never really thought about it before — but someone mentioned the space needed for it, so I grabbed a tape measure and was surprised at how deep the pavements are.
“It fit all the criteria, so we put the application in and it was approved pretty much straight away.
“We don’t have any outdoor space at the moment as the building backs straight onto Abbey Gardens, so this will be something completely new for us.
“We’re hoping people will come and try it out — especially in the summer, with the sun shining down the hill.
“It’s such a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by.”
