Junction improvements to Pokeriage Corner in Thurston will see Beyton Road, Thedwastre Road and Thurston Road closed for eight weeks
Work is set to get under way on improvements to a junction in Thurston.
Bloor Homes is set to begin work at Pokeriage Corner on March 17.
A stretch of Beyton Road, on which the junction lies, will be closed for approximately eight weeks for the work. Thedwastre Road and Thurston Road will also be closed at the crossroads, and become access only.
It follows the completion of improvement to Fishwick Corner, and is part of the developers infrastructure works for its development of 210 home off Beyton Road.
A spokesperson from Bloor Homes said: “We can confirm that the road will be closed at the crossroad junction between Thedwastre Road, Beyton Road and Thurston Road, and Thedwastre Road south of the crossroads junction.
“The diversion route follows Thurston Road, Bury Road, New Road, Station Hill and Sandpit Lane.
“The works are to commence on Monday March 17 for a duration of approximately eight weeks.
“We thank the public for their patience while we carry out the works, which include enhanced street lighting and signage, kerb realignments, and improvements to the surface water drainage.”
Andrew Ridgeon, of the Thurston: Are You Opposed to Further Development group, said he was ‘cautiously optimistic’ the improvements would help traffic flow and reduce accident risks.
