Rolex stolen and 80-year-old man left with bruising following robbery in Barnham's Mill Lane




An 80 year-old man sustained bruising and had his Rolex watch stolen in a robbery at the weekend.

The incident occurred between 3pm and 3.30pm on Saturday, in Mill Lane, Barnham.

A man in his 80s was crossing the road near the bus station and was approached by a woman who reportedly stated she was from Colombia and was looking for farm work.

She then forcibly grabbed the victim by his arms and made attempts to search his pockets.

After the victim pushed her away the suspect ran to the front passenger door of a small, dark-coloured car – possibly a Fiat 500 or a Mini – which was waiting by the War Memorial, at the junction with The Street.

The car then drove off in the direction of Bury St Edmunds.

It was only as the suspect ran away the victim realised his silver Rolex watch had been stolen from his wrist.

The victim also sustained bruising as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as approximately 5ft 6ins in height, between 25 and 30 years-old, with dark hair and wearing dark clothing.
