Owner of BrowLab by Anna opens second site at JMS Business Park, in Bury St Edmunds
The owner of a beauty salon is looking forward to continuing to ‘make a difference’ after expanding her business to Suffolk.
Anna Maurer welcomed customers to BrowLab by Anna at the JMS Business Park, in Bury St Edmunds, on Saturday, May 24.
The Northern Way premises is Anna’s second site. The 40-year-old, originally from Lubanowo, in western Poland, has also been running a salon in Ely since 2016, which she co-owns with Lindsey Bond.
She said this new site has been a dream in the making since 2019.
“I wanted to expand for about five years now, but I had to put my plans on hold because of Covid-19,” said Anna.
“I’m really happy – this has been my dream for a while. I can’t believe it really happened and I’m proud of what I have achieved.
“I’m really thankful for the support for my friends, family and customers. I’m looking forward to the future.”
Anna’s business specialises in semi-permanent makeup as well as laser removal and scar treatments.
With a background in mechanical engineering, Anna decided to change careers in 2010 after her friend’s mum was diagnosed with cancer.
She said that following treatment, her friend’s mum’s hair grew back – but not her eyebrows and she wanted to do something to help others.
“I started this because I wanted to help people who have lost their eyebrows due to chemotherapy,” said Anna.
“I just wanted to help improve their lives. It feels incredible to be able to do this as many of my clients are going through a difficult time.”
The Bury site is twice the size of her Ely premises, which Anna said is because she plans to establish a training academy.
During the opening, Anna celebrated with her team of four and some of her customers with a bottle of Prosecco.
She also held a raffle, raising £350 for St Nicholas Hospice Care.
