A Great Saxham Samaritan will be taking to the skies next week for the charity’s local branch.

Jenny Saggers, 27, will be undertaking a sky dive in aid of the Bury St Edmunds and West Suffolk branch, to help renovate and decorate its new premises in Bury.

Jenny, a listening volunteer at the branch for five years, said: “A sky-dive is something I’ve always wanted to do, but I’ve always put it off and chickened out,” she said.

“I thought a great way to do it would be to do it for fund-raising. It’s definitely the bravest and most adventurous thing I’ve ever done.”

Jenny will do doing her dive from around 12,000ft at an airfield in Beccles, with her husband Alex and her parents looking on.

She said: “All the other volunteers at the branch are quite excited for me, but they’re glad it’s not them doing it!”

She is aiming to raise around £500, which will go towards building work and furniture for the new premises.

“It’s much bigger presmises so we are in need of some more furniture, and they have overrun on some of the costs,” she said.

“The team running the move said all the spending is necessary, but it has come to more than they thought it would.”

Despite her nerves Jenny said she is ‘trying to stay positive’, adding: “The less you worry about it, the better the experience you will have.”
