Rougham Sunflowers, near Bury St Edmunds, attracts record numbers on 2024 season opening day
Record numbers visited Rougham Sunflowers, near Bury St Edmunds, on Saturday as it opened for the 2024 season.
Rougham Sunflowers, in Sow Lane, is now in its fourth summer and has established itself as a popular free summer attraction with families.
On Saturday, the first visitors were welcomed to the patch, which is just off junction 45 of the A14, to enjoy picking sunflowers, taking on the bug hunt challenge, a big bale pyramid, ride on mini tractors and sandpits.
Food, drink, waffles, ice cream, face painting and picnic areas are also on site.
Sunflowers start at £2 per stem, with secateurs available on loan for a refundable deposit. Pre-cut bunches of wildflowers are also for sale. Payment by card is preferable, although cash is accepted.
There are also several featured areas for photographs.
Rougham Sunflowers is open daily for roughly three weeks, 9am-5pm.
Admission and parking are free and toilet facilities, including an accessible toilet with baby change unit, are available.
Two sundowners evenings will be hosted by Wrights at the site for the first time this year. Tonight and next Friday the field will be open from 5-9.30pm for evenings of cooking over fire, golden hour in the flowers and a chilled summer evening atmosphere.
Sundowner tickets cost £22.38, including food.
