South Lee Prep School and Nursery, in Bury St Edmunds, holds successful colour run for playground improvements

More than 200 pupils, staff members and families came together for a colour run event to raise funds to improve a school playground.

South Lee Prep School and Nursery said its colour run, at Nowton Park, in Bury St Edmunds, on Friday, was ‘such an amazing and vibrant event’ and the children really enjoyed it.

Organised by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), the event aimed to raise funds towards the improvement of the school’s playground.

Children from Preschool through to Year 8 participated in the run, completing a supervised route that featured colour powder stations, water sprays and music.

Volunteers from the school community supported the event, and the afternoon was structured to reflect the values of teamwork, wellbeing and shared responsibility.

Dr Lucy Farrow, chair of the South Lee PTA, said: “This was a very successful and enjoyable afternoon. The event reflected the strength of our school community, and we are extremely grateful to all those who gave their time and energy to support it.

“The funds raised will help us move closer to providing a stimulating and inclusive playground for our pupils.”

Sarah Catchpole, head of South Lee Prep School and Nursery, in Bury St Edmunds, added: “The Colour Run was a celebration of our school’s values in action.

“Our pupils participated with positivity and determination, and it was a pleasure to see families and staff members coming together in support of a shared goal.

“We are proud of the way the children represented the school and look forward to the next stage of our playground improvement plans.”

Following the event, families returned to South Lee for refreshments and to celebrate the success of the afternoon.

Donations to the playground project are still being accepted through the school’s JustGiving page.
