A14 roadworks, near Stowmarket, from Haughley to Tothill, scheduled for series of overnight closures as work moves into final stages
A series of overnight closure are scheduled as part of the ongoing A14 works near Stowmarket.
National Highways said it is moving into the final stages of the reconstruction scheme between junction 47a, Haughley, and junction 49, Tothill.
The closures will allow Highways to carry out final resurfacing, line marking and finishing work on both the eastbound and westbound carriageways.
In an online statement, it said: “We apply the final road surface at the last stage to ensure it isn’t damaged during the construction work.
“This also maximises the life of the road surface and ensures a better quality of finish.
“In the meantime, you might experience some unevenness or bumps on the temporary surface.”
The closures will take place between Sunday, June 2 and Friday, June 21.
Here’s a full list of planned overnight closures:
- Sunday, June 2, westbound (junction 51 – junction 49)
- Friday, June 7, eastbound (junction 43 – junction 49)
- Saturday, June 8, westbound (junction 51 – junction 49)
- Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14, eastbound (junction 43 – junction 49)
- Saturday, June 15, eastbound (junction 43 – junction 49)
- Monday, June 17 to Friday, June 21, eastbound (junction 43 – junction 49).
Diversion routes will be put in place while the the overnight closures are ongoing.
Westbound traffic will be diverted to exit the A14 at junction 51, before taking the A140 towards Diss and then the A143 towards Bury St Edmunds to re-join the A14 at J43.
Eastbound traffic will exit at junction 43, then take the A143 and the A140, before re-joining the A14 at junction 51.
Work on the resurfacing between Haughley and Tothill started in February last year.
Highways added the closures can change depending on weather and work progress.
