Signs for Deichmann shoe shop go up in Bury St Edmunds arc shopping centre




Signs have gone up for a new shoe store in Bury St Edmunds town centre.

The signs for Deichmann, which bills itself as Europe’s largest footwear retailer, went up today in Gosnold Street in the arc Shopping Centre.

It says the shop will be holding a limited ‘50 per cent off’ opening offer on selected lines, ‘while stocks last’.

The signs say the store ‘will be opening soon’.

Deichmann sought planning permission for the advertising boards last month.

The shop is at the former location of Peacocks clothing store which closed down in January.

The family-owned Deichmann chain was founded in 1913 in Essen, Germany, in the Ruhr river area.

It has shops in 31 countries with about 4,200 stores and employs about 41,000 people.

About 450 new and remodelled stores are planned across the group in 2024, including around 120 outlets in Germany.

The stores sell shoes a wide of shoe styles for men, women and children, and stocks a range of brands including Nike, Addidas and Bench.
