Drinkstone Six-year-old inspired by record-breaking uncle Mark Baggs yields his own impressive results

A six-year-old boy inspired by his uncle to start growing his own vegetables has yielded some impressive results.

Bradley Lord, of Drinkstone , started growing the giant veg back in March and after months of tending to them, they were ready to pick last week.

The Woolpit Primary Academy pupil was inspired to start growing the pumpkins, marrows and cucumbers by his uncle, Mark Baggs, who last week beat the UK record for the largest marrow ever grown – it weighed in at an impressive 200lbs.

Jenny, Bradley’s mum, said he had grown the vegetables all on his own and that he loved gardening.

Now Bradley has harvested the giant vegetables, he plans on putting them to use – the marrows are going to be made into chutney, and with Hallowe’en coming up, the pumpkins will be carved up.

Besides impressing his family, Bradley also wowed fellow pupils and teachers after proudly taking one of the ‘huge’ cucumbers he had grown into school at the end of last month.

Woolpit Academy tweeted after Bradley brought one of his 'huge' cucumbers into the school.
