A11 Spooner Row southbound entry slip to be closed as work on road continues
The next phase of roadworks on the A11 between Spooner Row and Tuttles interchange will begin next week, with changes to the contraflow system planned.
From 6am on Wednesday May 3, the southbound entry slip road at Spooner Row will be closed which will allow National Highways to replace the road surface.
The southbound entry slip road at the Tuttles interchange will be diverted to follow the B1172 through Wymondham, before joining the A11 southbound at the tuttles interchange.
The Browick northbound exit slip road will also reopen on Wednesday May 3, with the Tuttles Interchange north exit slip expected to open towards the end of May.
Andy Jobling, National Highways Programme Lead, said: “In January, we were thrilled to complete the reconstruction of the northbound carriageway, and we’re just as delighted at the progress being made on the southbound lanes. The change in the contraflow roadworks is a sign we’re well on track to complete the scheme.
“We know that living, working or travelling in and around a major construction scheme isn’t easy, so we’re extremely grateful for the patience and understanding that motorists, local people and businesses have shown whilst we’ve been carrying out this vital upgrade.”
The £65m scheme will see National Highways remove some of the foundations and the old road surface which, first laid in the 1990s, sees 45,000 drivers travel on it each day.
Reconstruction of the 5.3-mile northbound carriageway between Spooner Row and Tuttles Interchange was completed in early January.
