Still time to sign up to rotary club's swimarathon at Bury St Edmunds Leisure Centre next month

There are still a few lanes available for a fundraising swimming event next month in Bury St Edmunds.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Bury St Edmunds, Swimarathon 2023 is taking place on Sunday, March 12, at the Abbeycroft-run leisure centre.

Due to popular demand, the event has been extended by two hours, now running from noon to 5pm.

Teams of four are invited to swim relay for 40 minutes and raise funds from their supporters for a local charity of the team’s choice.

Rotarian Robert Davie said: “Young or not so young, this is a swim-at-your-own-pace fundraising opportunity, not a competition!”

With costs covered by the sponsors - the Ridley Godfrey Foundation and Becketts Investment Management Group - all monies a team raises goes to its chosen charity.

This year more than 30 teams are expected including teams from Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service, Abbeygate Sixth Form and Thurston Community College.

Swimmers in the previous seven Swimarathons have raised more than £60,000.

For entry forms and details, contact Robert Davie on 07576 880822 or rdavie593@btinternet.com or visit the club website.

There is no entry fee.
