Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds star trail raises thousands as winners revealed
A star trail celebrating the 200th anniversary of Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds raised £10,500 in sponsorship for the venue - with the winners announced this week.
Participants had to find 25 stars, each with the name of a performer who has appeared at the theatre, around the town centre.
Ten winners were chosen for the trail, organised by Our Bury St Edmunds and the theatre, and they were invited to a prize giving.
Prizes included vouchers, panto tickets with a pre show greeting and dinner at a restaurant with tickets to Shirley Valentine.
Julia Read, head of development at the theatre, said sponsorship from businesses ‘contributed significantly towards Theatre’s Royal’s annual £170,000 fund-raising target which goes towards its operating costs’.
Mr Cordell added: “The trail was a little longer to walk around than our previous Wolf and WW1 trails but I was delighted to receive so many correct entries and I hope all the winners enjoy their prizes.”
The conclusion of the star trail is the penultimate event in the anniversary celebrations with pantomime Peter Pan offering a glittering finale.
