Star Wars and Indiana Jones actor Julian Glover helps launch sci-fi and action exhibition at Bury St Edmunds' Moyse's Hall Museum
A Star Wars and Indiana Jones villain presided over a stellar launch of a landmark sci-fi and action exhibition in Bury St Edmunds.
Julian Glover, who played General Veers in The Empire Strikes Back and Walter Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, was the special guest at the Moyse’s Hall Museum event.
During its launch weekend, about 1,200 people flocked to the exhibition which is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
They had their pictures taken with costumed characters and marvelled at the movie props including a lightsaber used by Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.
Other highlights include Matt Damon’s space suit from The Martian, Captain Kirk’s costume from Star Trek: The Search for Spock and Professor Snape’s wand from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
There is also a Doctor Who Tardis console lent to the museum by fan Tom Seymour.
Dan Clarke, heritage officer, said: “We’re really pleased with the weekend. Both days were very popular, particularly Saturday afternoon, and the public were really pleased to meet Julian Glover who was an absolute gentleman from start to finish.”
The exhibition runs until November 25 and will be open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm and Sunday, noon to 4pm.
