Clothes shop Javelin in Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury named one of the best local stores in the UK by Grazia readers

A Suffolk clothes shop has been named as one of the best local stores in the UK.

Javelin, in Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury, was nominated by readers of Grazia as one of their 'favourite independents' as part of the magazine's 'Save Our Shops' retail campaign.

Its list of the 60 'best local shops, boutiques and independent businesses in the UK' is to celebrate the opening of 'non-essential retail' from Monday, April 12.

Praising Javelin, it said: "The husband-and-wife team behind Javelin, Jeremy and Joanna Clayton, have made it a high street fixture for three decades in Suffolk."

An Instagram post from Javelin said they were 'delighted' with the recognition.

"A big thank you to those who voted for us, your continued support is what keeps us going," it said.

Mr Clayton added: "To receive such an accolade from a prestigious national magazine with such a large readership is a timely boost just as we are about to reopen after the current lockdown.

"We are working hard to make sure our returning and new customers get the very best shopping experience from Monday, in line with guidelines and we think we have a fabulous new spring/summer range to present to them.

"It is all very exciting."
