Coronavirus causes Suffolk County Council to make changes to care services

Suffolk County Council has released a statement today advising customers that they may experience changes to the care they receive.

The county council's adult care team is making the changes with the wellbeing of their most vulnerable users in mind and states that these individuals 'remain a priority.'

In cases where services are affected, customers will receive a phone call or visit from their current care provider and the council are advising customers to only call them for urgent reasons.

The service changes should begin in the coming weeks, and may involve a switch in service provider for some users.

The statement said: "The council is working across the health and social care system to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone in Suffolk and will continue to keep customers updated of any changes as they arise."

Councillor Rebecca Hopfensperger, cabinet member for adult social care said: "We understand that this is a very worrying and difficult time for many of our customers receiving care services."

She offered reassurances that, although care may change, safety, health and wellbeing remained the priority, adding: "It may be that people are not able to attend day care activities, or that their care provider changes, but we will be doing what is necessary to keep them healthy, safe and well."
