Bury St Edmunds chippy Hendo's Fish & Chips and Ipswich Codfellas miss out on accolades at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023




Two Suffolk fish and chips shops narrowly missed out on bagging awards at a prestigious industry competition.

Hendo's Fish & Chips in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich Codfellas were both nominated in categories at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.

The Bury St Edmunds eatery made it into the top three spots for the Best Newcomer, while Codfellas was named in the top three for the Quality Accreditation.

Hosted by The National Federation of Fish Fries (NFFF), the awards ceremony took place yesterday at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, in London.

However, both shops narrowly missed out on claiming the overall prize.

Lighthouse Fisheries of Flamborough, in Yorkshire, won Best Newcomer, while The Fish Works in Largs, Scotland, claimed first prize in the Quality Accreditation category.

Pimp My Fish, located in Burwell, near Newmarket, were triumphant in the Best Mobile Operator.
