Suffolk to be hit with strong winds as Met Office issues yellow weather warning

Suffolk is set to be hit by strong winds as a yellow weather warning has been issued.

The Met Office has placed the warning for winds with gusts of between 50 to 75mph, covering the entirety of England, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as parts of Scotland.

A deep area of low pressure is expected to cross the UK from the west, bringing spells of very strong winds, which are set to strike Suffolk from about 9am on Wednesday.

The wind is expected to cause some disruption, with longer journey times on roads or cancellations on rails, air and ferry.

Sea fronts and coastal communities are likely to be effected by spray and large waves.

Residents have also been warned to expect power cuts and possible damage to buildings, such as tiles being blown from roofs.

The wind will begin to calm overnight on Wednesday and into Thursday, with the warning in place until 6am.
