SuffolkNews Podcast: Woman arrested on suspicion of arson after house fire




On today’s podcast, we have news that a woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a house fire in Bury St Edmunds.

The blaze ripped through a house in Cannon Street around 1.30pm yesterday.

Fire crews from Elmswell, Wickhambrook and Bury attended to tackle the fire, which police said is being treated as suspicious.

Also, Timmy Mallett, the colourful TV sensation from the 80s, visited a Suffolk museum last week.

The Wide Awake Club presenter switched his in-your-face glasses for a more subdued look at Long Melford Museum and Heritage Centre in Chemist Lane, near Sudbury, last Thursday – but he still handed out a sticker with his ‘utterly brilliant’ catchphrase.

Museum volunteer Annabelle Waldron was left starstruck.

A huge new manufacturing and warehouse facility looks set to be built at a Suffolk business park.

Developer Jaynic has submitted a reserved matters planning application to Mid Suffolk District Council for the 164,500 sq ft unit at Gateway 14 in Stowmarket.

The 2.36 million sq ft business park, next to junction 50 of the A14, is already home to a new 1.17m sq ft distribution centre for garden and leisure retailer The Range – due for completion by the end of the year.
