Breathtaking spectacle as 88,000 sunflowers bloom in Rougham
Standing tall and swaying gently in the breeze, thousands of sunflowers in full bloom are creating quite the stir in Rougham this summer.
Rougham Estate has, for the first time this year, planted 88,000 sunflowers to create a free spectacle.
The sunflower field, along with a giant sandpit, colourful deckchairs, climbing haystack and many photographic opportunities, are drawing thousands of visitors to the field, which is located just off the A14 at junction 45.
The breath-taking display opened on July 29, but the flowers only fully bloomed in the past week or so.
Pathways have been cut through the flowers so visitors can enjoy a stroll, cut flowers to take home – stems cost £2 each and secateur hire is available – with payment by card only.
Amie Deane, Rougham Estate events co-ordinator, said: “I’m so excited to see the wonderful sunflowers in full bloom.
“Sunflowers are so beautiful, we wanted to do something to spread a little summer delight for everyone to enjoy. We also have exciting plans to expand our pick your own offering in the coming years.”
The sunflower field is open Thursday to Sunday, 10am-5pm, until August 29.
Admission and parking are free and toilets and baby changing facilities are available.
