LEARN MOREThe force awakened in Bury St Edmunds after thousands of people flocked to the launch of the town’s biggest-ever sci-fi exhibition.
More than 2,300 people descended on the sixth annual Sci-Fi & Action Exhibition over the weekend at Moyse’s Hall, which boasted actors from Star Wars and Batman as well as a wealth of props, replicas and costumed characters from sci-fi and action films and TV shows.
The Norwich Star Wars Club - Suffolk Division launched the Bury St Edmunds Sixth Annual Sci-Fi & Action Exhibition after marching in costume from Angel Hill to the museum.
Alex McWhirter, heritage officer for St Edmundsbury Borough Council, said: “The weekend was a brilliant opener for the exhibition and we were delighted to see so many sci-fi and action fans enjoying the event, from meeting the actors to taking part in our interactive Sci-fi Pot Luck tour, posing for pictures and seeing the exhibits.
“With more activities to come including workshops, Bond Girl Madeleine Smith coming today (Friday, October 30) and a vintage GoldenEye computer game challenge, we look forward to seeing even more people enjoying the remaining three weeks of the exhibition.
“Visitor numbers for the exhibition are continuing to grow each year and we would like to thank all of the people who have helped us stage it.”
Star Wars and Batman fans were able to meet Paul Blake (Greedo), Michael Carter (Bib Fortuna), Chris Bunn (the original Stormtrooper) and Martin Ballantyne (one of the Joker’s henchmen).
The exhibition runs until November 15.
See Friday’s Bury Free Press newspaper for more pictures and interviews with the actors.
