The Northgate in Bury St Edmunds closed until further notice




The Northgate restaurant and cocktail bar in Bury St Edmunds will be closed from this evening.

Currently it plans to start taking bookings again from July 1 this year.

The Chestnut Group made the announcement earlier today to close all its pubs and restaurants across East Anglia.

A message on the Northgate's website said: "The Government is advising us to do the right thing to beat Coronavirus.

"We are 100% behind doing whatever it takes to support our NHS and protect lives.

"We are still excited about the prospect of continuing to serve our communities, adding take-aways and village shops to our businesses – but for now, we think it is best to listen, cease all activities and give our teams the best chance of re-opening when the world returns to normal.

It added: "This is not goodbye from us… it is see you again soon, where we look forward to celebrating with you at the mother of all opening parties!!"
