Alastair Angus, owner of Thurston Butchers, completes 100-mile challenge for St Nicholas Hospice Care
A Suffolk butcher has completed an industrial estate 100-mile challenge, raising thousands for St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Alastair Angus, owner of Thurston Butchers, has run 100 x 1 mile loops of what he called the ‘Skyliner loop’ of Rougham Industrial Estate in 18 hours and 23 minutes, well under his target of 24.
The runner, who set off at 3pm on Saturday and ran through the night and finished just before 9.30am on Sunday morning.
“Although it was repetitive and I was not totally sure if my knee was going to hold up, It was important that I gave this challenge everything I had,” said the Moreton Hall Runners and Saint Edmunds Pacers member.
He was joined along the way by friends, family and members of his two running club and raised more than £2,200 on his Suffolk Park 100 Miler for St Nicholas Hospice JustGiving page.
He added: “The support was incredible. Throughout the whole 100 laps I only ran one lap solo. Having 40 or so runners with me on the final laps was something I will never forget. I thank them all and the people who have donated to help this great cause.”
