Theatre Royal Golf Day will see pantomime dame Tiger Lilly step up to the tee

Teams taking part in this year’s Theatre Royal Golf Day will go up against a formidable opponent as pantomime dame Tiger Lilly steps up to the tee.

The event, which is in its 10th year, will be held at Stowmarket Golf Club on Thursday, April 9, with all money raised going to the theatre and its various community projects.

But Tiger Lilly, who is being played by Chris Clarkson in the theatre’s Peter Pan pantomime until Sunday, has been causing waves among organisers insisting on playing from the ladies’ tee and receiving a courtesy shot.

Ian Duncan, event organiser, said: “I understand the point that Tiger Lilly raises. I will seriously consider the request and obviously make a decision shortly before the event. I really need time to consider the precedence that the situation raises.”

He added that he was minded to accept the change if Tiger Lilly agreed to play in full costume and make up.

The competition will see teams of four go up against each other, with team stableford scoring in place.

The cost to enter a team is £130 which includes breakfast and lunch. To enter, call 01359 244537 or email golfjobsuk@gmail.com
