The Suffolk neighbourhoods with the highest Covid-19 infection rates including Ipswich, Saxmundham and Glemsford and Lawshall




Covid-19 infection rates are on the rise in the UK with four of the five Suffolk districts recording an increase in cases, new data shows.

Information released by the Office for National Statistics shows an estimated 1,327,900 people were infected with the virus in the UK during the week ending 26 September.

This upward trend is reflected in most parts of the county, as East Suffolk, West Suffolk, Babergh and Mid Suffolk recorded increases in the week leading up to October 1.

The Suffolk area with the highest Covid-19 infection rate was Oulton Broad West.

This West Suffolk location recorded a rate of 260.8 cases per 100,000 people, amounting to a total of 19 cases.

Saxmundham and Coldfair Green were claimed the next highest virus infection rate, with 216.7 cases per 100,000 people. This came to a total of 21 cases.

In Glemsford and Lawshall, in the Babergh district, a rate of 210.4 per 100,000 residents was recorded, with 13 people positive for Covid-19.

The Ipswich areas of Kesgrave West and Rushmere and Castle Hill recorded rates of 204.6 per 100,000 people and 202.3 per 100,000 people respectively.

Kesgrave West and Rushmere had a total of 20 cases while in Castle Hill 14 people tested positive for the virus.

East Suffolk - 133 per 100,000 people (333 cases)

Mid Suffolk - 108.7 per 100,000 people (114 cases)

West Suffolk - 80.7 per 100,000 people (143 cases)
