Thetford Santa Run calls on town for support

The Thetford 5km Santa Run is looking for volunteer marshals and supporters for the festive event on Sunday.

The run will see 200 participants putting on their running shoes and fancy dress to take on the route to raise money for the Mayor’s Charity Fund and other good causes.

Sharon Nash, from Run Breckland, said: "You could cheer on the runners down King Street, or maybe join in the Zumba at the Guildhall, in the Market Place, at 9.45am.

"It would be nice if there were spectators to cheer the runners on and show them appreciation."

The route will start in the Market Place at 10am and include King Street, Riverside Walk, Bridge Street, Nun's Bridges and Butten Island.

Town mayor, councillor Roy Brame, and his wife, Karen, will also be there and it believed that the mayor will run down King Street with the runners in ceremonial dress, while the mayoress will be handing out the finisher's medals at the end of the run.
