Blackthorpe Barn offering the chance to pick your own Christmas tree from Rougham Estate's plantation

Blackthorpe Barn is offering visitors the chance to pick their own Christmas tree from its plantation over the next two weekends.

The venue, near Bury St Edmunds, is inviting people to book a time slot online to pick a tree this weekend (November 21 and 22) and the following weekend (November 28 and 29).

Visitors will have the chance to pick their own tree from the Rougham Estate plantation and collect it nearer to Christmas.

For those unable to make those dates, Blackthorpe Barn will have plenty of other freshly cut and pot grown trees to choose between November 27 and December 22 but visitors must book a time slot.

Those who book a time slot will receive a 10 per cent discount to spend in Blackthorpe Barn's online Christmas shop on purchases more than £75.

Rougham Estate has won the ‘British Christmas Tree Grower of the Year’ award and supplied 10 Downing Street.

Tree Manager Simon Eddell said: "With people decorating their homes earlier and earlier each year, the Nordmann Fir is gaining in popularity as it retains its needles better than most other trees.

"The Norway Spruce is a more traditional tree with a really lovely scent that just ignites your Christmas spirit.

"It is best not to bring the Norway Spruces in doors too early as they require watering to ensure they stay fresh.

"There is a useful care guide that comes with each tree to ensure the new owners can keep the trees in tip-top condition over the festive period."
