Thousands of properties without power in Suffolk
More than 3,000 properties in Suffolk are without power following Storm Ciara.
In a statement at 5am today, UK Power Networks said 4,173 properties were waiting for power to be restored.
At 10.20am, there were 3,208 properties without power.
A spokesman said: "Engineers have restored power to the majority (91 per cent) of the 324,000 homes and businesses where electricity supplies were affected by Storm Ciara yesterday.
"Winds of over 73mph caused damage to electricity networks across parts of the East of England and South East.
"We were ready for Sunday's weather by mobilising over 1,200 field staff, who worked throughout yesterday repairing the damage and these teams were back at work this morning continuing to restore power supplies as quickly as is safely possible.
"Hundreds of extra customer advisors are helping to keep people updated.
"We understand how difficult it is to be without electricity, and aim to have all properties affected by the storm yesterday, back on by the end of today.
"We are offering extra help to people in vulnerable circumstances who are without power, including hotel accommodation and hot meals.
"If you see an overhead line down, please keep people well clear and call our emergency power cut helpline on 105."
