Thug who stamped on teen's head in Stowmarket jailed for 12 years
A 22-year-old man has been jailed for 12 years after carrying out an unprovoked attack on a teenager in Stowmarket.
Joshua Williams, of Kent Road, Stowmarket, kicked and punched the 15-year-old boy and stamped on his head at the recreation ground on Recreation Road on the evening of Saturday, June 30.
The victim suffered serious head and facial injuries, including fractures, and lost consciousness following the attack. He was taken to hospital and was released on July 2.
Williams was handed a sentence of nine years and another three years on extended licence at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, after pleading guilty to grievous bodily harm at an earlier hearing.
DC Victoria Keeble from Western Area CID, said: “This was a particularly nasty unprovoked attack on a juvenile in a public place during a summer evening.
“Considering the extent of his injuries this could have been so much worse and to see Williams behind bars for 12 years is extremely satisfying. He will now have plenty of time to reflect on his actions that have caused his victim and family great pain, discomfort and distress.”
