Bury St Edmunds Toothless in Suffolk rally to go ahead following stabbing of Southend MP David Amess

Campaigners calling for increased NHS dental treatment in Suffolk have said their Bury St Edmunds rally will continue, despite the stabbing of Southend MP Sir David Amess yesterday.

‘Toothless in Suffolk’ are carrying out a march and mass rally on Sunday, with organiser Steve Marsling confirming it will still go ahead in light of recent events.

He said: "Toothless in Suffolk is not a party political organisation. Our condolences to Sir David Amess and his family, but as a well known poverty campaigner, I'm sure he would support our campaign."

Sir David Amess was a Conservative MP who was stabbed multiple times at his constituency surgery in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, yesterday.

Sunday's event will begin at 11am on Angel Hill and will take campaigners on a short walk around the town, returning through Angel Hill and gathering in Abbey Gardens.

The crowd will then hear speeches from local councillors and union officials, as well as the chair of the British Dental Association.
