Bury St Edmunds: UK Power Networks promoted to Platinum Investors in People accreditation
UK Power Networks, one of the largest companies with a base in Bury St Edmunds, has achieved an accreditation only 1 per cent of eligible firms can boast.
The country’s biggest electricity distributor has been promoted to the Platinum Investors in People standard - which demonstrates the highest standard for how it supports and manages employees.
To gain the award, UK Power Networks had to show policies and practices were being instigated and followed by all the 6,200 staff nationwide, from the chief executive to apprentices.
Andrew Pace, HR director at UK Power Networks, said: “Achieving platinum accreditation through this independent assessment, matches our vision of being an employer of choice and is gratefully received during our tenth anniversary year.
“Huge credit must go to the ongoing hard work of all our managers and employees. We believe there is a clear link between employee engagement, investing in people and improved business performance and we are delighted to be able to demonstrate this.”
To achieve the platinum rating, UK Power Networks has: Achieved best ever company performance in 2019, trained 300 mental health first aiders, listed in the top ten of the Top 25 Best Big Companies to work for, and launched a Green Action Plan and commitments to carbon neutral and Net Zero.
Paul Devoy, chief executive of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate UK Power Networks for its platinum accreditation, it is a remarkable effort."
