Tories take Newmarket and Red Lodge in county council by-election

Conservative district councillor Robin Millar won the Newmarket and Red Lodge Suffolk County Council by-election last Thursday.

Cllr Millar, who is the deputy leader of Forest Heath District Council, won the seat with 644 votes to replace Conservative Lisa Chambers, who resigned in November after 10 years on the county council.

Roger Dicker for UKIP came second with 494 votes, Labour’s Michael Jefferys had 284, Andrew Appleby of the West Suffolk Independent Party took 123 and Tim Huggan for the Liberal Democrats had 76 votes.
