St Edmundsbury Cathedral, in Angel Hill Bury St Edmunds, to ‘go lime for Lyme’ in aid of Lyme Disease UK




A town cathedral will be lit up green tomorrow in aid of Lyme Disease UK (LDUK).

St Edmundsbury Cathedral, in Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, will ‘go lime for Lyme’ alognside other famous buildings in the UK including Edinburgh Castle, Liverpool Town Hall, centre:mk in Milton Keynes and Ashton Gate, home of Bristol City FC.

Hannah Green, 48, of Ipswich, was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2012 and she and her horse will stand in front of the cathedral dressed in lime green as part of the event.

Ms Green was bed bound for two years as a result of the disease and spends a lot of her time advocating for Lyme patients and raising awareness for LDUK.

She said: “It’s great that such an amazing landmark has agreed to light up for Lyme.

“I’m going as the LDUK representative – It’s really, really exciting because normally Suffolk gets a bit left out.”

Ms Green had her condition misdiagnosed for several years before she was told she had Lyme disease.

She recovered through a series of holistic treatments and has been recovered for 10 years now.

Ms Green encouraged people to come down to see the cathedral and support LDUK, with individuals welcomed to donate to the charity and aid futher research.

LDUK recommends supports head to the landmarks at around 9pm, encouraging people to take photos and share them with the charity on its social media channels.
