Bury St Edmunds town centre routes to close for resurfacing works




Three roads in Bury St Edmunds town centre are to be closed for resurfacing works next month.

The works in Garland Street, Looms Lane and part of Brentgovel Street, between Looms Lane and Well Street, will be over two phases starting in mid-November.

Garland Street will take place first from November 16 to 18, between 9am to 4.30pm, with a diversion route in Cannon Street, Northgate Street and Looms Lane.

Looms Lane and Brentgovel Street is the second phase from November 23 to 25, 9am to 4.30pm.

A diversion route eastbound takes in Well Street, Orchard Street, St John's Street, Ipswich Street, Tayfen Road and Northgate Street, while the westbound diversion is along Northgate Street, Cadney Lane and Cannon Street.

Suffolk Highways said parking along Garland Street and Looms Lane will be suspended between November 16 to 18 and November 23 and 25.

West Suffolk Council has agreed to allow permit parking holders to park in Ram Meadow car park but parking permits must be displayed.
