Thetford firefighters take on challenge for charity

A Thetford retained firefighter has set up a 500-mile running challenge this month for him and some of his colleagues to raise money for charity.

Richard Taylor, who has been part of the town’s fire station for about three years, is hoping 12 of the 17 retained staff can help make as much as they can for The Fire Fighters Charity.

He said: “Every year amazing supporters, donors and fund-raisers come together to raise the £10 million they need to operate their services in support of the entire UK fire services community.

“This year the pandemic has brought traditional fund-raising to a halt. Being part of the fire family, an organisation that helps and supports firefighters and their families, means we get to directly see the benefits that the Firefighter’s Charity provides.”
