Bury St Edmunds mayor re-elected for another term

The mayor of Bury St Edmunds was appointed to serve another term tonight, following a vote by the town council.

Members re-elected Councillor Peter Thompson, who represents the Moreton Hall ward, to serve through to 2023.

He fended off a challenge from Councillor Diane Hind, member for the Tollgate ward.

Councillor Thompson was first elected to Bury Town Council in 2012, and he has also represented Eastgate & Moreton Hall on West Suffolk Council since 2015.

He has been a resident of Bury St Edmunds since 2009.
