The Friendly Loaf Bakery in Nowton, near Bury St Edmunds, wins top award at Food Awards England 2023




A Suffolk-based bakery has been crowned Artisan Bakery of The Year at a prestigious award show.

The Friendly Loaf Bakery in Nowton, near Bury St Edmunds, has bagged the top accolade at The Food Awards England 2023 which took place in the Birmingham city centre Holiday Inn last night.

The bakery offers slow proved breads, sour dough and patisserie using high quality flours and ingredients and it triumphed over other bakeries in the award category from Kendal, Milton Keynes and Wokingham.

A spokesperson for The Food Awards England 2023 said: “We received an overwhelming response from the public, who nominated some fantastic establishments across the country.

“The winners should be proud of their achievement, as they represent the very best of England’s food scene, and are a true reflection of the quality and diversity of the industry.

Other finalists from Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich included The Eaterie, Gastrono-me, Amigos, Bicafé o Português, Bistro On The Quay, Café at the Dance House and Waterfront Bistro.
