New Tesco Express, at the St Olaves Precinct, on the Howard Estate in Bury St Edmunds, which is due to open next year takes step forward with signage plans
The development of a new Tesco Express on a town estate has taken a step forward after signage plans were approved.
The new store at the St Olaves Precinct, on the Howard estate in Bury St Edmunds, is due to open next summer.
In April, L&C Investments Ltd gained planning permission to transform the three shops including a SPAR into one for the Tesco Express.
Yesterday, West Suffolk Council approved proposals from Mr Ben Train for three non illuminated signs, a non illuminated ATM surround and four internal illuminated signs.
Bury Town Council recommended approval of the plans.
An advertising statement from Tesco said care was taken to ensure the signs would ‘blend seamlessly’ with the architectural style of the St Olaves Precinct.
Drawings for the signage show the ATM piece, which would be above it, would have the classic ‘Tesco Express’ lettering.
This lettering is also detailed in drawings submitted for the external signage, which would be enhanced with LED lighting.
Elevations submitted in the plans show the ATM would be on the right side of the shop.

Conditions imposed on the plans said the signs should only be illuminated between 6am and 11pm.
