Bury St Edmunds Tour Guides set for another record breaking year

A town’s tour guides are set to have yet another record breaking year as they revealed they are now sold out until the middle of January.

Last year, Bury St Edmunds Tour Guides hit new heights with their ‘ghostly and macabre tours’ with 828 bookings.

Now, on the back of reaching from further afield, they are set to best these numbers.

Demand for the tours has been so great that two additional outings are being staged.

John Saunders, marketing officer, said: “Before we even started at Halloween we had reached half of last year’s total.

“The answers lie in visitors from further afield, our adjoining counties and Hertfordshire, people returning to bring family or friends and the amount of publicity we have generated.”

Recently, Bury Tour Guides were visted by the Morbid Tourist, who Mr Saunders said was in awe at the number of spooky legends experienced, and highlighted the town as being lesser know for its dark tourism as opposed to York or Edinburgh.

The evenings combine the grizzly with humour, while also expanding on the town’s history to delve into strange happenings.

The tours have been booked for a variety of purposes including hen nights, birthdays and Christmas gifts.
