Two personal trainers have worked with children as part of a school's commitment to make mental health a priority.

Pupils from Thurston CE Primary Academy in Thurston engaged in a variety of fun activities led by trainers from Eventus22 Gym in Bury St Edmunds on October 11, linking to World Mental Health Day.

Amanda Wigzell, deputy head at the school, said the trainers, who volunteered their time, worked with the children about how exercise supports mental health.

"It was absolutely fantastic," she said. "All the children were involved and were doing activities, pretending to be animals and jumping out."

As well as talking about what exercise does for the body - which is also covered in the curriculum - there was a focus on how exercise can make you feel better.

As part of World Mental Health Day on October 10, there were activities in school like mindfulness and getting out into nature, and the school talked to the children about what they could do to support their mental health.
